During the civil war many soldiers went out to war.Many families were left be hide.Many soldiers worried about there families and there love ones.Nearly three million men served in the Union and Confederate armies from 1861 to 1865.Then only Connection was writing letters,to their families,besides telegram.Telegram were also a good source of connection, but it was very expensive, So the only way better for them was a letter writing.

Separations from home were hard on soldiers and on their families. Women had to take care of their home.Children also wrote letters to their father on grandparent, or any other love one out there.In

In June 1862 George Tillotison a corporal and later a sergeant in the 89Th New York Infanty, received a news that both his Daughters Lury, that was 3 years old and Georgianna, who was a 6 years old were seriously ill. Lucy died of her illness. Georgianna survived, she served for her father in a letter she sent a July 31 1867.

Dollie (georgianna) explains to her father, that she was very sick with head aches. but she was feeling better seems that she been trying to improved her writing,She also explains that she haven't improved much she her writing but her last letter, would show it better.She also says she would be so glad if her dad came home again and near go back to war.

The solders name George Tillotsion tired to calm his daughter fears. His letter was received it August 11, 1864. His explain that when come home he would never go back to war.

Other families were lucky enough. Gave the family a great pleasure to hear from him, that his blurted with she hopes god will still bless is with suh grate blessed while they are apart.

Aliisonia Term November 18Th 1862. JP Nugent, wrote a letter to
his mother. That his in a bad condition.He explain he had a diarrhea from more then two months. He wish he could go home to see his mom, But he could cave, the general will not allowed that to happen.

June 2ND 1862, Roanoke Island a soldiers that received a letter of the 25Th and posted 27Th he had received it in the morning.Telling his wife that must be cheerful and not give up to despondency. He also explain how he live and he explains that he living is very simple we have plenty of hard crackers. He suppose explain that he keeps them in his bunk.
He also say they have enough to eat and that the way they are back at Roanoke Island.

A solider writing to his sisters explain,that he has writen so many letters and the last one he wrote was December 9Th. He had writ en since the Battle of Murfreesbore.He explains that Wat camp is.

They were told to do so many things such as move quarter master and cometary slaves do the rear. They needed to evacuate, early in a Monday (Three day nation). He also says he and others marched miles through towns and so fourth.
Many families and soldiers wrote each other, wondering how each other are every day.Wondering if anything bad happening to there families and family members.Families hoping that their love ones haven't died.
Hoping that soon they would come have safely and at lest Little healthy, and that everyday would be alright.
Children hoping there daddy to come home and never go back home, and never go back to war again. So they stay with him through there childhood. This was life during the civil war.
